We are passionate about public safety and fighting crime
The Public Safety Foundation’s mission is to help make the UK the safest place to live, work, and raise a family. We will champion the fight against crime and disorder. We will speak up for the silent law-abiding majority.
But we will only succeed so long as brave men and women are prepared to put themselves at risk to keep us safe. Operation Coffee Break is a new initiative to show support London’s armed response officers.
The Times, Editorial, May 2025
“Many armed officers are wondering why they should place themselves at heightened risk to serve a society which will haul them over the coals for any perceived misjudgment made under immense pressure.”

Our idea is a simple, human gesture to support armed officers
Operation Coffee Break is our new initiative—a grassroots crowdfunding campaign designed to raise money to buy a coffee for every armed response officer in London. Armed officers perform one of the most demanding roles in public safety, often under intense pressure and scrutiny. This campaign is about a simple, human gesture, giving them a moment of appreciation in the form of a hot drink, funded by the people they protect.
Chief Constable Simon Chesterman
“We are proud to have the most restrained and professional armed officers in the world, but increasingly they are more afraid of going to prison for doing their jobs than facing the violent and dangerous individuals we rely on them to protect us from.”

Operation Coffee Break starts with armed response officers in London
We’ve chosen to initially launch Operation Coffee Break for armed response officers precisely because we know they are under serious pressure and we have seen how a split-second decision to protect life can be pored over for years and years – exacting a heavy toll on all those concerned, not least the officer, their colleagues, friends and family.
The Sun, Editorial, 30 April 2025
“Brave police officers deserve better than living under threat of prosecution for doing their job Who would now be a gun cop, knowing a split-second move could end in a life sentence or loss of career?”

Join us to help put a coffee in the hands of those who protect us all
Every penny raised with Operation Coffee Break will go directly toward providing coffees to armed response officers in London.
Your contribution will literally go towards putting a warm cup of coffee in the hands of armed response officers. This means paying for the actual coffee and any unavoidable costs associated with making that happen.
We’re keen to work the Met Police to make this happen in the most appropriate and effective way.
We’re also open to working with trusted partners who may wish to support or contribute.
Rt Hon Suella Braverman MP, Former Home Secretary
“We depend on our brave firearms officers to protect us from the most dangerous and violent in society… They mustn’t fear ending up in the dock for carrying out their duties.”

We believe small acts can help build a safer, more connected London
Our broader vision is to continue creating projects that boost morale and build bridges between frontline public safety professionals and the public. The Public Safety Foundation’s mission is to make the UK the safest place to live, work and raise a family. We will do so by promoting mutual respect, understanding, and wellbeing through positive community action.
Operation Coffee Break is just the beginning—we believe small acts of appreciation can build a safer, more connected city.
