Writing in today’s Telegraph, our Founder explains that until public safety is considered as great a priority to the Treasury as public sector pay, Britain will continue to slide into anarchy :

“What’s more, a new report published this week describes the National Crime Agency (NCA) – the agency directly responsible for targeting the gangs – as being “on its knees”. The NCA is suffering from rock-bottom morale and a “brain drain” as staff leave for better jobs, or to simply sell their services back as better-paid contractors.

Little wonder that spending on temporary staff and consultants has grown by more than 350 per cent since 2015/16 and at £93.7 million now represents more than 10 per cent of the NCA’s £860m budget. But the NCA’s woes are far from unique.

They reflect a wider neglect of law and order by successive governments and the wider political elites – who can talk a good game, but only occasionally deliver. The NCA – when launched in 2013 – was lauded as “Britain’s FBI” but the agency has never really developed into anything like the top-tier crime-fighting entity that we need.”
